Description

AHK-Cu Cosmetic Powder is 1g of AHK-Cu (copper tripeptide-3) powder in a sealed ampule. It’s mostly used in homemade scalp and hair serums, and it’s for external cosmetic use only, not for injection. It costs $50.00 and is in stock now.

What is AHK-Cu?

AHK-Cu is a copper complex of the tripeptide alanine-histidine-lysine, a close relative of GHK-Cu. Most of the published work on it is in hair research, where a 2007 study by Pyo and colleagues found it lengthened human hair follicles kept alive in culture.

The powder is the copper complex itself, so it’s blue to violet in color and dissolves easily in water. Here’s a PubMed search for AHK-Cu if you want to read the studies.

Who AHK-Cu cosmetic powder is for

It’s for anyone making a scalp serum or adding a copper peptide to a hair product. If you’d rather not mix anything, the Sponge Microneedle Scalp Serum is ready to use and already has copper tripeptide-1 in it.

Working with AHK-Cu cosmetic powder

Dissolve the powder in distilled water first, then add that to your serum or cream base. Work with clean tools and containers, because a homemade water-based serum has no preservative unless you add one. Small batches that you use within a few weeks are the safe way to go.

Copper peptides don’t like strong acids or chelators. L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C), AHAs and EDTA can pull the copper out of AHK-Cu and turn the solution green or cloudy. Keep the pH close to neutral and use those ingredients at a different time of day.

Never inject it. This is a cosmetic-grade powder for products that go on the skin or scalp.

GHK-Cu and AHK-Cu compared

The two peptides differ by one amino acid: GHK-Cu starts with glycine and AHK-Cu with alanine. GHK-Cu has decades of skin research behind it, and Pickart’s work found that blood levels fall from about 200 ng/mL at age 20 to about 80 ng/mL by age 60. AHK-Cu has far fewer studies, and most of them are on hair follicles.

In practice people use GHK-Cu for face serums and creams and AHK-Cu for scalp products, and some formulas use both. Our GHK-Cu Cosmetic Powder 1g Ampule is the other half of the pair if you want to try that.

Making a simple AHK-Cu serum

The easiest base is distilled water with a little glycerin or a ready-made hyaluronic acid gel. Weigh the powder on a jewelry or lab scale accurate to 0.01g, dissolve it in the water part, then stir it into the base. Label the bottle with what’s in it and the date you made it.

Store the finished serum in a dark dropper bottle in the fridge. Throw it out if it changes color, smells off or goes cloudy. One gram of powder covers many small batches, so there’s no need to make a lot at once.

If you sell or give away what you make, check the cosmetic rules where you live. Most places have labeling and safety-testing requirements even for small makers.

AHK-Cu cosmetic powder or a ready-made product?

If you want copper peptides without mixing, our CopperGlow GHK-Cu cream and microneedle scalp serum are ready to use. The powder makes sense if you make your own skin care, want to choose the strength yourself, or already have a base you like.

For lab research, we also sell GHK-Cu 50mg research vials, made to research-grade purity.
