Description
Our TB-500 Frag 17-23 10mg vial holds 10mg of lyophilized TB-500 Frag 17-23, a seven-amino-acid fragment of thymosin beta-4. It’s sold for laboratory research only.
TB-500 Frag 17-23 at a glance
TB-500 Frag 17-23 is a seven-amino-acid piece of thymosin beta-4, Leu-Lys-Lys-Thr-Glu-Thr-Gln, usually with an acetyl cap on the first residue. Positions 17 to 23 are the stretch of the full protein that binds actin.
Because it’s only seven residues long, it’s much smaller and cheaper to make than full TB4, which is why it’s studied as a stand-in for the parent protein.
How TB-500 Frag 17-23 acts in the lab
The 17-23 region of thymosin beta-4 is the part that holds on to G-actin, the single units that cells link into filaments. By binding those units, thymosin beta-4 controls how much actin is free for building the cell’s skeleton, which matters for cells that need to crawl into a wound.
The fragment keeps that actin-binding motif without the rest of the 43-residue protein. Researchers use it to test which effects come from the actin-binding site and which need the full molecule.

TB-500 Frag 17-23 research
Studies on thymosin beta-4 fragments found that the LKKTETQ region alone could reproduce some of the full protein’s effects on cell migration and wound closure in culture and in rodents.
The 17-23 fragment has also turned up in anti-doping research, because labs look for it as a breakdown product of TB-500. Published data on the fragment by itself are limited.

TB-500 Frag 17-23 10mg quality and batch records
The purity spec for TB-500 Frag 17-23 10mg is 99% or higher by HPLC, and that’s the floor for each batch.
The label on every vial shows the compound, the amount and the batch. Ask us for the certificate of analysis for your batch and we’ll email it over, which is handy if your lab keeps paperwork on file.
If a result in your own work looks off, check the batch number first, then the reconstitution math. Most problems with TB-500 Frag 17-23 come from storage or mixing, not the powder.
TB-500 Frag 17-23 10mg reconstitution and concentration
Here’s the math for 10mg of peptide:
- 1mL of diluent gives 10mg/mL
- 2mL of diluent gives 5mg/mL
- 3mL of diluent gives 3.33mg/mL
Go with whichever number is easiest to work with in your protocol, and label the vial with the concentration and the date you mixed it.
Most labs use sterile bacteriostatic water or our research diluent solution. Let the vial reach room temperature, run the liquid slowly down the inside of the glass, then roll it gently until the powder dissolves. Don’t shake it. Shaking can shear peptide chains.
TB-500 Frag 17-23 10mg storage and shelf life
Unopened, keep TB-500 Frag 17-23 10mg in a fridge at 2 to 8°C, or in a freezer at -20°C if it’ll be a while before you use it. Keep it out of direct light. Once mixed, keep it refrigerated and use it within about four weeks.
Setting up for TB-500 Frag 17-23 10mg
Most labs order TB-500 Frag 17-23 10mg with a diluent so they can mix it the day it arrives. Our research diluent solution is sold right next to it. The vial opener and the vial case are small extras, but they make handling a stack of vials easier.
